Andaman makes ID card mandatory even for tour operators

Port Blair, Apr 2 : The Andaman and Nicobar Administration has decided to issue identity cards to all the people engaged in tourism sector in a bid to tighten security along the coasts.

”The identity cards will be issued by the respective sub-divisional police officers to all the persons engaged in scuba diving and pleasure boats. All of them have been advised by the local administration to submit their applications within 15 days,” V Renganathan, Superintendent of Police in Andaman, told UNI today.

”Sometimes it becomes impossible to the identify the crew and owner of tourist boat,” Mr Renganathan said.
Meanwhile, all the station house officers and in-charges had been directed by the administration to inform personally all the scuba diving and pleasure boat operators in their jurisdiction to apply for the identity cards.
