The Mizoram Board of School Education is responsible for development of qualitative education in the state. This board is an autonomous body and has the power to see forth, regulate and supervise education in the state from class I-XII.
The Board conducts public examination at the end of classes IV, VII, X and XII. Besides this it also conducts Proficiency Certificate Examination in vocational trades at the end of 12th year of schooling for vocational school students.
The Mizoram Board of School Education is debating upon grading and scaling system. There might be an elimination of public examination at the end of class IV and VII. Continuous and comprehensive evaluation might be introduced at elementary level(Class I-VIII)
