3 bodies found at Panikhaiti 1 Suspected to Be Mizo

GUWAHATI, Mar 23 – Three bodies with bullet injuries were recovered from Hatisila near Panikhaiti early this morning along with an abandoned Scorpio vehicle bearing a registration number that was later found to be fake.

Among the dead, two were identified as residents of Jalpaiguri and their bodies claimed by family members after post mortem was done. The identity of the third victim, who might be from Mizoram, is yet to be ascertained.

All the bodies had bullet injuries, which the police believe were fired from 9 mm pistol. Some spent cartridges were recovered from the crime scene, making the police believe that the killings took place near the spot where the bodies were found. Documents like driving license and registration papers were recovered from the vehicle.

Not wishing to be a named, a senior police official said that the killings could be the outcome of rivalry between gangs of car lifters, which have proliferated in recent times.
